I’ve been trying lots of different products to find sleep aids that work on my quest for better sleep this year. I’ve written before on how stopping drinking can improve your life and help your sleep, but this year I’m trying to make my sleep even better!
Some days I can drop off to sleep without too much effort, and other times a sleep aid that works is super important for me. I also sometimes find that even though I’ve had the 8 hours sleep my body needs, I still wake up feeling groggy and not particularly refreshed – so I’m happy to have found a couple of products that help me to wake up feeling well rested!
Here are my 4 favourite sleep aids that work:
A Good Quality Mattress
The first thing I did in my quest to sleep better is invest in my bedroom. Whilst where you sleep might not necessarily be first on your list when looking for sleep aids that work, a bed that you actually want to get in is key to making sure you get into bed earlier! If you don’t currently have a mattress that supports you, Groupon’s latest mattress deals are worth taking a look at.
Once you have your mattress sorted, getting strict with yourself and embracing a screen free bedroom can also improve your sleep.
Nytol Herbal, Simply Sleep One-A-Night Tablets
On nights when I can’t get to sleep, I find Nytol’s Simply Sleep One-A-Night helps to get me there. I don’t use these every day, but if I am tossing and turning then I will get up and take one of these and usually find that I’ll then drop off to sleep in the next half an hour.
It’s a natural sleep aid and Nytol’s Simply Sleep One-A-Night Tablets contain 385mg of Valerian root extract, this has been used for decades to induce sleep and promote calmness – and it has been working for me of late.
I love tea! And a variety of different nighttime teas are sleep aids that work for me. My current favourite is Clipper’s Snore & Peace tea.
I like to incorporate a sleepy tea into my evening routine; so I’ll put my phone away (it sleeps downstairs on the dining room table) and make a tea to drink with a book before I go up to bed. The Snore & Peace tea is a blend of chamomile, lemon balm, lemon grass and lavender – the perfect aid to help you sleep naturally!
Benenox Overnight Recharge
Benenox is a patented combination of honey, Sustamine and Vitamin B6 which, when taken before bedtime, helps you make the most of the next day. The combination has been shown too: reduce tiredness and fatigue, support normal psychological function and help energy production.
I’ve been using Benenox Overnight Recharge for 3 months now and I have to say it has made a big impact on me waking up feeling more refreshed. I really noticed the difference when I didn’t take it for the few days when I was on holiday. My favourite is the honey and ginger flavour and I take it in the evenings, just before I brush my teeth and after my sleepy tea.
So there you have my 4 favourite sleep aids that work, I hope they help you to get a better nights sleep! Thanks for reading, L xxx
